A little weary I lay my head
down to sleep.
A little dreary my eyes tear
up as I begin to weep.
I weep for the strengths I have
known as mine, only to see them lost.
I weep at the many ways my daily life
comes with such a cost.
An intruder imposed itself on me
and will not be chased away.
It came after traumas to the head
and it is here to stay.
It regulates the amount of noices
I am capable of hearing in a day.
It regulates the amount of visual impression
I can stand to see on any given day.
When I go out on town or to a show
I am unable to process.
The amount of impression I get can't
be sorted and accessed.
I confess that everyone I see
look mostly the same to me.
If you nod and smile at me I'm
unable to process who you are to me.
It is a deep sadness not to be the same
as I used to be.
It is also a sadness to know it is a result
of abuse that was inflicted on me.
But there are also blessings that
I have come to see.
Because now I value life and love
as the most important to me.
I don't have bundles of energy to spend
and there is no way that I can mend.
This intruder called MTBI is here to stay
and it will never in my lifetime go away.
Don't be a hostage to your fears and worries.
Trust in God, Elizabeth, and a way will be found, where there is no way.
Peter
