Journey of the soul

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Standing on the edge of the universe,
soul bare of protective shelling.

I pause for a moment in the doorway
leading into open space,
afraid to let go, afraid to leave the
comfort of my skin behind.

What am I compared to the
grandieur of the stars and the moon?
Plainness out of sight.
Goals out of reach.
Misfit that cannot fit into
one compartment alone.

Generalist of space and time.
Rainbowsoul
in this variegated life of mine.

Without further ado
I let myself fall
into open space
I
let myself glide
on the wings of love.

Rocked to comfort
by tides of time
I open up
this
soul of mine.

Watch my colours
join and mingle
with the stars,
watch them
transform into words
that I gift
to the world.

My scars pour out
and
exposed they are
transformed into swords
for a
warrior soul.

Galaxies gently envelope
my very core
as I am
transformed into
the grandieur I
thought reserved for the
moon and stars.

Journey of the soul is complete
as
I take on my new skin
that
is fitted just for me.

A thoughtful rendition on a sensitive topic. Well executed.
