Poem Artwork

Fragments of imagination like shooting stars, dancing cross the nightsky.
Something lit a spark in my brain, in my soul, in my heart
and suddenly the world as I saw it changed.
More vivid the colors, more bright the light, more beautiful the sound.
I was swept away to some sort of common grounds
where it felt so right, it felt wrong.

Before me the cross roads of my life
no guarantee whatsoever in sight.

Should I stay or should I go?
There was no way to know.

I tucked my heart back into my chest
where it only reluctantly would go.
The beating so fierce, in steady protest,
you need not think. Just go!

A battle commenced in my brain.
Don't do it, it said. That's insane!
You know what you have, but not what you gain.
My heart yelled quiet brain!

My soul that had spilled out before me on the floor
said I am not coming back no more
if you don't take that road to unknown shore.
What more proof do you need from me?
can't you feel I am as sure as I can be?

The battle raged within me for a long, long time
Until the heart and soul said, wait a minute!
We're both in agreement that's a sign!
Brain may be sharp and astute,
but he's all about the bureaucracy.
Listening to us is not crazy.
It's democracy.
Come on give in!
You know inside it's not a sin.

And so it was that I took the right turn on the cross road
and by doing so I found my heart and souls abode.
These days brain are quiet, he knows not to cause a riot.
I never regretted a thing
since I listened to the democrazy within.
