Poem Artwork

I have a dream, impossible it seem
life on hold, because truth be told,
its choke hold on my heart
make it difficult to part
brain from heart.

Maybe one day, it will lead me astray.
But however I look at it, it's not today.
Years from now, this is my vow,
my dream will come true
for me and for you.

Good things will always come to those who wait,
so I throw out my bait and I wait.
Patience has never been a virtue of mine,
impatient I've been waiting for a sign,
damn it! I need to chain this heart of mine,
I need to bide my time.

Always been a looser in this ancient game
rules I can't obide by, though they're all the same.
since the beginning of time, always the same old rhyme,
my feet have always stumbled to its beat.

When all eyes are on me, panic sets deep within,
how can it possibly be, my dream's got eyes for me?
I feel trapped, elated, can't make sense of a thing.
A ring, a choke hold around my throath.
Still I want that which my mind cannot hold,
happiness and fear, twins within my soul.

One's true dream waits for us though it can seem we wait for it. Paradox is at the heart of all things sacred. You express that inner conflict very well, the brain wants to be in charge, but it is the heart that must lead. Beautiful!

Describing pain in words is difficult enough but in verse? Much can be said for this realistic stare into a mirror of the heart and mind, finding that there are reflections viewable only to the true-of-heart- and-mind. I once wrote a novel, "3 Way Mirror" in which I attempted to allow such reflections to be shared with the reader. Whether I succeeded is beside the point. I bring it up because as I perceive your conundrum, I see much of the same commitment of purpose in your sharing as I did years ago. Write on, dear poet. You've much more to say, I'm sure.
