Dating game

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

I personally never liked the dating game. Up front and honest is how you win me over.

Thursday, April 6, 2023

We're like leafs to the wind,
flying, free falling, on air we ride,
by someone elses rules we must abide.

Strange and unpredictable,
codes left for you to interpret like you're a pro
in knowing what somebody else make up as they go.

Left in the rain wishing for sunshine,
as you keep digging for gold in the coal mine,
fumbling in the dark, hoping to catch that spark.

Dancers in a dance, moving in trance.
Chasing rainbows end, or wishing on a star,
maybe even standing love struck at the bar.

Prince and pauper alike,
chasing that ellusive love,
the kind that is sent from above.

Yes, finding love is never easy, and dating and meeting new people is often easier for some than for others. Still...the treasure of when love is finally found is worth the chase.
