No where to run

I was a teenager when hairbands ruled the rock scene. This is written with a smile on my lips as the words bled through my fingertips 🤘😉

I am the fire, I am the rain
I am the one that will remain

I am the whisper in the night
the words to treat you right

I am the raging desire
that drench you in a fire

So aching sweet you can't turn back
I am the benign heart attack

You see me coming and you can't run
staring down the barrel of my love gun

I am cupid come to hunt you down
watch out baby, no where to run

There was a song out back then and one of the lyrics was "no where to run, nowhere to hide" and this poem brought that to mind. Yes, often when love hits, even if we don't want it to happen and are not prepared or ready for it. There is no stopping love...

Both cool and a bit humorous, I really like this one. Written a long time ago when you wore one of those hippie headbands? I call them sweat bands. I believe that many rock bands wore them because they helped keep the sweat of hot stages, hot lights, and vigorous performances from getting in their eyes and making it difficult for them to see…

It was a cool look, though. Especially on a woman with very long hair, keeping it out of her eyes so they could be seen drawing you in with their gaze like your poem suggests.
