Dreams

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

I’ve been having some strange dreams the last couple of days, maybe brought on from my high fever due to a covid-infection. Anyway. I put it in another context rather than writing about the dream I had. I guess being kidnapped to a foreign country to live in captivity isn’t quite poetry-material. Neither is me trying to get a racing license. 😊 So here it goes. A poem about dreams. 😊🤗

Surfing brainwaves
caught in a dream
silent lucidity
prevent the screams

But in my waking hours
still some dreams prevail
The ones where
you and I set sail

Getting weaker day by day
until we are no more
Hollow the winds of change
that take us to that distant shore

Soon the gardens of paradise
will turn to a desert, empty and cold
It is where all dreams die
where trust is bought and sold
