Healing

Our scars are not who we are.

Saturday, August 19, 2023

The world has come to an end
and there is no way to pretend
that it is like it was before

All we have and all we are
is a big and ugly scar
an aching blistering sore

It was all the things we did
all the things we hid
but who's keeping score?

Pretending to be a dream
instead of a team
the moon lit up the inside

And with sprinkle of sand
revealed our hidden hand
nowhere to run or hide

Just as soon as we begun
just as soon we were gone
a silent whisper in the night

A tender heart ripped apart
doomed to die from the start
yet still hold the will to fight

Our scars are not who we are
they are merely distant stars
its powers fleeting

Healing taking over as we go
because we will it to be so
when our heart's still beating
