I know it’s over has been for years,
There’s little left to say.
We made our way through joy and tears,
Each bright and rainy day.
I don’t know when it all turned sour,
The arguments began.
How did we have the awful power,
To flush life down the pan?
Truth be known, I’m sure it’s true ,
We hedged our bets and bids.
Carried on and made it through,
For the sake of our small kids.
Well now they’re grown, no reason, rhyme
That we should stay together.
We played at love, we had our time,
This love didn’t last forever.
So you’ll go your way and I’ll go mine,
Possessions split asunder.
We’ll find a place the weather’s fine,
Leave days of rain and thunder.
The condition of many marriages these days. It seems that the reasons why we are drawn to one another come apart when things get tough, and not what the romantic notion we got married for expected.
Love ya!
