A New Year's Eve from Hell

A selfish gold digger uses her boyfriend to get her into a rich man's party.

I never asked to go to town that cold, wet new year’s eve
I never meant to play the clown, or act so damned naïve.
You breezed into that crammed venue, and turned so many heads.
They put you on the main menu, placed orders for their beds.

You relished the attention and downed their cheap champagne.
And did I ever mention? You left me in the rain.
I watched you swan inside that place, like some big movie star
While rain ran down my stupid face, as I locked my old ford car.

Eventually I went inside that loud and raucous room.
And tried to find my future bride, our liaison to resume.
I stood and scrutinised the room like some demented fool.
A feeling of impending doom, I could not keep my cool.

I frantically barged through the crowd, spilt drinks and made a scene.
I called your name maybe too loud, led men to intervene.
They grabbed me, pulled my shirt tail out, propelled me to the door.
I found no time to scream and shout, my feet don’t touch the floor.

I swung a fist and spun around, my feet could find no leverage.
Pulled a woman to the ground, my face stuck in her cleavage.
She screamed and kneed me where it hurt, I clutched my tender things.
Her husband swung me by my shirt, I flew as though I’d wings.

I slid across the booze splashed floor, covered in beer and pickles.
I never thought to keep the score, as guests went down like skittles.
Beer and cake and bits of meat, got scattered round like nuts.
They tried to scramble to their feet and landed on their butts.
I saw you with your men friends there, laughing at my plight.
Lack of sympathy hard to bear, right then my heart took flight.
I lay no blame for what you are, you’re shallow mean and lame.
I crawled away to my old car, you revelled in your fame.

You used me just to weave your threads in a rich man’s party place.
You thought you’d turn some wealthy heads with your pretty face.
They used you just like you used me, you staggered home alone.
Like rag cast off into the sea, arrived soaked to the bone.

This should have been a lesson learned, no doubt you’ll err again.
Fame and riches must be earned, sometimes a little pain.
We could have been so good we two, we could have had a ball.
Your selfish ways broke me in two and you had one huge fall.

Lessons learned all around. Sad, but I had a chuckle or two at the scenario of beer, cake, and bits of meat being scattered around as guests went down like skittles.

She done you wrong. Women… Can't live with them… And can't live without them.

On the other hand, that was one wild night for the memory books. So glad it was fiction. ;-)
