If man were meant to fly....

Poem Artwork

Reflections From A Cessna

The pillowed clouds
               advancing
                   surging forward
Then swiftly breaking
For one short moment a glare of sun
Then again the clouds

Over the wingtips
             startling flashes
                       red-green-gold
Assault the peace
Until the clouds
               emerge triumphant
Victor - for a time - in
The eons long war

Below
    a phantasmagoria of woodland
                        water
                        road
                        and town

Above
    bland
    perfection
             of sky

But who am I
This intruder in the unreal
What am I
Doing here
When I am
Of the earth
And it is my destiny
                   to crawl upon my belly
Rather than to soar.

O, Roger!

How I missed this one, I'll never know--a soaring write that left me gasping from its power--thank you, I am grateful, indeed; YOU ROCK!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *STANDING O*

I've always thought of myself as a salamander - from that position, the only view is up! (when I get the nerve to crawl from under my rock, that is!) Great imagery!

This is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This piece is cleanly, elegantly, and simply written, yet gives such terrific imagery in just a few words. Well done. Michelle

Back in full throttle, all systems GO, I'd say, Roger!

Even the format lends itself to the theme, which you give such keen visuals to. It's that entire last verse that gave me the goosebumps... and further proves that your poetic pen sings! This is really a fine piece. katy xox

You've painted quite a picture from that cessna, Roger, and even though we truly are belly crawlers, we should all attempt to soar whenever possible!

Fantastic poem! Only the choice to soar is still yours;-)
That cloud formation is showing up in many places.

Better you than I, I will drive anywhere I can before flying as one great philosopher once said, " Flying is "for the birds!" Cool pic though, that cloud with the hole looks really cool...Ed & Rufuz
