Some days I see a tree
That tree is me
The Wind, like life is blowing, swirling all around
But just like the tree
I remain firmly trapped in the ground
I shake, I lean, I howl, I cry
Trying to grab the attention of those around
From my tiny space in the ground
Birds, bees, even a fly scurry past me but none are aware of my silent plea
The disease ravages my inner soul
I was beautiful and green
Flowers, fruit and leaves covered me
Protecting
Others drawn to my joyful branches
My alluring scent
One by one my exquisite leaves dropped off
One by one the fruit and flowers withered away
The birds and bees picked another tree
Soon I was a stick, alone, ugly
Relief was sweet and swift as I was yanked from the ground
finally found
and thrown away
