I’ve been her before - that funny little girl
Who’s charm spread half way ‘round the world
Pasting on a pretty smile to be the class clown
Never letting anyone scorn or put me down. . .
“Ya, pour me a drink and light another cigarette
But don’t stop me, ‘cause I’m not toasted yet.
Turn on the music and I’ll dance up a storm
‘Til the latest night turns to early morn.”
That was so long ago - another story told.
Since then I’ve grown a bit too wise and old.
But I have it still – I’ve not lost my humor
If you heard I did, its another ugly rumor
I just need to honor exactly how I feel
And be who I am – something that is real.
Joy will rise again, this time with purity
To lift me in its arms and sip eternity.
The first two stanzas place the past firmly in perspective and the final two offer transition and now, but this poem isn't only about structure, there's much more here than that, there's understanding and awareness and a healthy positive outlook.."...this time with purity..."
I love how you deliver this and where the poem goes and takes me along.
My dear don't feel lonely, a sense of humor is a great tool to keep around, on my poem Farm of Expression, your review said CUTE. Actually I was just tuning in to some of what you wrote above, trying to be a little humorous and have some fun, it seems my old farmer got screwed tough, actually that might be me in disguise if you get my drift, I was trying to be humorous but my character seems to have caught hell, my boss is kind of tough, anyway cheerio
This is yet another meaningful and uplifting sharing. I also appreciate the difficult structure (rhyme and rhythm) that you have used to convey your message via your verses. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,
