I think back to those halcyon days
When Jimmy Hendrix played Purple Haze
Led Zeppelin and the Rolling Stones
Not for me then, creaking bones
Dezi Arnez loved Lucy Ball
James Bond was Thunderball
Larry Hagman “dreamt of genie”
David Bowie sang “Genie Genie”
Beach Boys, played “Get around”
On balmy days, a summer sound.
Flower power in San Francisco
Donna Summer creating Disco
Elvis sang Love me Tender
Followed by Return to Sender
Buddy Holly and Peggy Sue
Carl Perkins, Blue Suede Shoes
Then there were crisis ways
Castro nearly ended our days
The Cuba crisis was nearly war
Like one we had not known before
We lost some idols in that time
Buddy and the Big Bopper in fifty-nine
Shortly after Kennedy his fate he’d meet
Gunned down in a Dallas street
The sixties were great times for fun
The teenage era had really begun
Yep, I had a great time in many ways
Back then in those Halcyon Days
An excellent reflective write--very well penned!
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :) (I remember the sixties)
