The Beauty of Nonsense

Few other things in life offer the tranquility and sanctuary that nonsense provides.

You can be the President of the United States addressing the world and your constituents, positing your solutions to the nation’s ills in double speak and inference, attempting to slay the congressional dragon with a rubber sword using words that are in effect nonsense.

You can be a bipolar homeless man living on a street corner addressing the world and your curb mates, positing your solutions to the nation’s ill’s in double speak and inference, slaying the social dragons with a crack pipe ranting words that are in effect nonsense.

You can be a television news anchor sitting in your broadcast studio providing special insight to the solutions to the nation’s ills, parroting the interchangeable words of interviews with the President and the crack addict from the cue card that commingles the nonsense of each.

Nonsense abounds. It infiltrates all facets of life. All walks of life.

Embrace it. Revel in its very existence.

How else do we cope with the flip side of the very same mirror.

Which is tragedy.

Reads like a rant. For all the naysayers out there who have all the answers. All I say is, fill those shoes for just one day and see how you would come out. Gov. Perry, the hotshot from my state with all the answers, as already shot himself in the foot with his quick draw several times. There is no single man, crack addict or otherwise, who can get us out of this mess with a single speech (Lincoln's Gettysburg address did not get him away from most of the hatred directed toward him that eventually led to his death). It will take all of us with some resolve and not flip answers to get us back on track. World War III?

ABSOLUMENT... in the past seven years, I have found my emotions; I have never laughed so much or cried so often but a smile is more or less permanently fixed to my lips for the HUMOUR AND NONSENSE OF LIFE! God bless it! And you, richly. Laughter gives such health to the mind and bones, as well. Can't beat it! :)) xx

Patrick, this nonsense makes too much sense. I must be looking at it from the flip side of that mirror. Well done sir, thanks Dick

As writers of fiction we, also, can revel in the nonsense we write so long as it can be pulled together to make some semblance of sense. Then again, the fiction we write may not truly be fiction and, so often, that that mirrors real life and be the most nonsense.

A bittersweet conclusion I draw from all this, just a bit too bitter, you almost leaning to tragedy as comedy, the dire consequenses that follow... Blessings!

So true, Patrick. You've put a fresh, good spin on tired topic. It's good to see you're still in fine form poetry mate. Be well you and Eileen.

Love,
Sage
