So you want to be a writer

paint pictures with your pen

Take peoples emoitions

to places they have never been.

And yes you want to see it in print

with your name

across the front

without question what you want

can be yours I'm sure

but if you sit there thinking too long

you might close the door.

Imagination thats required

and I tell you as well,

it is to sit and write everyday

not let those thoughts

slip away.

And may I ask

what if they do not read

are you inclined to be peeved?

for if you are

think careful my friend

take seriously your art

do not be put off by anything

just stay there and write

what you will.

Perhaps when you are dead and gone

your work will be in lights,

even Charles Dickens did not make

every first night.
