Written for the nesting turtles here in Key West
With flippers like shovels She digs out a nest Deeper and deeper For babies to rest Risking discovery Upon the still beach She toils through the night Beyond the seas reach Never a pause In her arduous chore To keep her eggs safe On that sand covered shore Covered and cozy Her deed is now done She heads back to sea With the rise of the sun
