There once was a rose...

that was left unattended

eventually...it withered...and then died

.

. 

Now the owner has grown wiser...

a new rose he attends

taking much better care...he does tenderly abide

.

A rose was a rose was a rose until the hand felt one of the thorns and let the rose fall, whiter and be forgotten.
The hand then, make sure that the next rose hadn't thorns.
The new rose wasn't a rose.
