Aretha had such a unique voice and delivery that made her songs so soulful and resonant. But I always sensed a feeling of sadness whenever I saw her in the public eye. While she could smile and crack a joke while talking of love of her food and cooking, that sadness was always there. She is free from that now. But we have lost a national treasure.
