In 2018 the one and only Cicely Tyson received an ‘Honorary Oscar’ …her long and outstanding Acting Career could no longer be ignored. So glad she lived long enough to receive what was long overdue. Rest in Peace, we'll miss you Cicely. 1924-2021

Poem Artwork

Cicely Tyson…one of ‘His’ so unique chiseling’s

has taken her leave

how appreciated and treasured was this

austere token…we received

Living in the 21st century we were

privileged to inhale her…perfume

and to have enjoyed the gift of beholding

her craft’s regal …plume

It was a long wait…to receiving her earned…

entitled recognition

this is a statement that cannot be refuted…

as a shameful authentic faction

Actress of the utmost degree, she inspired

with her perfection…pointing

indeed, our world was graced with the lilt

of her impeccable anointing

Thus, she touched us…we felt her and now…

we envision her…in Beulah Land, nothing lacking

she’s received The Reward that surpasses…All

and every desire is hers…without asking

Soar Cicely! Soar! Savor your crown for, discarded…

is that inhibiting…mortal lid!

Thus, as you wing…just wanted you to know…

how grateful we are to God …you lived!

2Tim 4:7-8

She was a marvellous actress and a remarkable women. I saw the last interview she did two days before she died peacefully. Lovely tribute.

Cecily stood out as an actress from the very first time that I saw her. Her articulate dictation part of her ability to reach the audience. And her versatility in playing a part was highlighted as played someone so elderly, yet so brave in the Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman as to challenge the status quo with a drink from the "Whites Only" water fountain.

Only Sydney Pointer has had more influence in bringing about civil rights in the media.
