He Waited....Yet

Regardless of our many varied roads and stories in life, there is one thing that holds true for all of us…Jesus doesn’t force Himself on us. He stands knocking at the door of our hearts …and waits.

Poem Artwork

It was another weekend…and she had a heavy date

with a familiar fling whom she’d met at…club mate

Deciding not to remember that…He…had called too

she again chose to…no show… as He knew her to do

Yet, He waited…

There were many scenes, when He sort for her ‘yes’

while she looked away, giving Him a…shrug, at best

And His love letters? my how her laughter spilt, as…

so humorous was a thought that ...churl... would pass

Yet, He waited…

Oh sure, they’d meet, but for just a fleeting moment

when she had the time, in an atmosphere…dormant

And it went on for ages, in air of ‘what ere betides’

with her quite comfortable riding her carousel of…I

Yet, He waited…

Then came the arrival of a …fading moon’s…umber

popularity waned…causing her ego to buckle under

She reached for straws, even though…He…was there

still deliberately resenting, she gave quick, ire stares

Yet, He waited…

Upset with herself it was…He…she reasoned to attack

declaring, His presence had bated all her woes, in fact

So, she dug profoundly deeper …in the mire of her fall

festering in mark disbelief of not being wanted… at all

Yet, He waited…

Into dankness she descended and refusing to even care

she ventured to try whatever was offered and to dare

Without aversion, mal slime chewed her like used grout

immersed there, surrendered…she quested death’s bout

Yet, He waited…

Void, an inkling, as to the length of her sad state, hence…

she hadn’t the faintest idea when…memories…entranced

And without an effort to rebuke, remorseful tears gushed

indeed, she sobbed and ached for…Him…in oblivion’s hush

Yet, He waited…

So ashamed…she couldn’t look up, content gazing His feet

‘til she felt His hand lift her chin…and their eyes did meet

Stinking, filthy and naked… her wretchedness was putrid

but His Love swaddled…prodding yielded conscience lucid

Him…! His sustenance! all she had scorned and all denied

dissolved that perverse virulent strain…her wailing pride

Yea, that moment! for life…that moment…was ever sealed

floating perpetually…in her gratitude’s oil, without repeal

Persuaded fully, His rescue would now…never…be shelved

to a dusty corner of existence where…insignificance delved

She avowed proclamation to every mount and depths of sea

how He had rescued, forgiven, and suckled…setting her free

It was years later when termed as a… mad religious fanatic

she indulgently smiled spreading His fame wavering not at it

For, her Master! Redeemer! Savior! who she did openly reject

albeit, where others would’ve surely venged, He waited …yet

ISAIAH 30:18, 43:25, Rev 3:20

Oh, Joyce! Your words are powerful! As in your poem, I, too, am so grateful that "He waited...". He loved me until I could love myself again! Amen!

Love ya!

Jane

Our Lord is ever patient. He is a gentlman and will only enter the door that freely opens to him. Beautiful and unique poem, Joyce.

Unless this poem is a direct quote from Isaiah, I would have to admit that your writing it is beyond what I normally read here. If it's original and from you, it is stirring and sterling.

It is always comforting to know that someone, the great one, is patiently waiting. We are also patiently and expectantly waiting to meet at the door of transition. Beautifully expressed and inspirational as always.

He waits patiently at the door to your heart, and when you let Him in, your world changes and re arranges. You live just for Him. Thanks for sharing Joyce, blessings of the heart :)
