"What is man's greatest character quality?" the Master asked his chosen ones. The chosen ones offered many words but not one of them was the correct answer. "The answer is not here!" the Master said. Then, with a gentle voice he said, "Kindness is man's greatest character quality," hence possession.

In "Word For Today," a booklet I compiled and for the last several years used daily, "KINDNESS" is the word for January 4th any year. So powerful, appropriate and encouragement-gifting is kindness that I could have chosen it to be the word for each of the 365 or 366 days of the year. However, because I desired positive-diversity to characterize this word list I selected a different word for each day of the year.
Kindness is easily one of the ten greatest words in the English lexicon. Although I will not discuss here the other nine words on the top ten word list there is something more that I want to say about kindness. Kindness is a grace word in that it is the embodiment of grace. It does not take into account any merit or demerit attributable to the recipient of kindness.
Kindness is the good we do that is directed by love, compassion rendered to help someone in need, recognition extended in acknowledging another person, not necessarily for his achievements, a listening ear that hears and responds to a scream, a cry of quiet desperation, that the unkind person may not hear, or a plea from someone hurting.
Kindness is saying to a person, "I love you," or just allowing one's appropriate presence to be in someone else's present.
It is easy for a person to believe that God smiles whenever an act of kindness is done.
Kindness can be expressed in myriad ways. Even a smile from the kind-hearted person makes God smile.
It's kind to be kind.
