I composed this love song when I was twenty-one years old. It captured what I had experienced and my reaction to it at that time. Today, I ask myself, "has my understanding of love changed?
I rmember the days gone by when you and I had lots of fun... We walked the streets all alone filled with loving hearts that knew no sin... You had such charming personality... my every thought stayed on you... I loved you dear because I knew you had everything a man could want... I worshiped you for your beauty... I loved you for what you were... Chorus I was the only one in love... For you have left me for another... And since loves live on and on... You were only fooling me... But now I know you were not in love... I was the only one in love... . Oh! it could not have e'ver been love, For love can never, ev'er end... I know it was something great filled with thrills and satisfactions too... You never cared for me and never will... because real love has no end... But I love you and always will because love can never really die... And since love can never die..... you were only fooling me... Copyright 1952 & 2014 by Uriah J. Fields
