LOVE ENDURETH
Chengde calls to me
but a hole of silence remains.
Expectation withers on the vine
oblivious longing.
I reach out, seek you,
but I am sinking
into a whirlpool of oubli.
The whirling wind speaks to me
birds converse
clouds communicate silently
as angels passing planets
I miss their meaning.
Do you carry the memory of we
when you awaken in the morning
during your day
even in your dreams?
The past fades like hopes
the present remains
all I have to hold on to.
I stop
breathe deeply
break the spell of want
for you.
In struggle and in sacrifice
we celebrate
a continuing commitment
to one another
in absence
in prayer
in silence
in which
Love Endureth.
