Blades in the Night
************************************
Each night I sit gazing at the screen
My face is lit by pale green light
The room behind so dark and unseeing,
As I sit and read, sometimes till morning light
When all seems silent and at peace,
Silence shattered by thumping of blades.
My mind goes back to another time and place.
Memories, of dim and darker shades.
In my mind, the world turns to green.
The pattering sound, of monsoon rain.
Blood red sunsets fill the scene
Deep within, I feel the pain.
I curse the sound of those infernal blades,
That flies across the sky each night.
But as the sound slowly fades
I realize it is just a mercy flight.
I realize that I have held my breath,
As my mind has conjured imagined fears,
A time when the blades, spoke of Death.
I exhale and wipe away my tears.
