I want you to read me.

Don't start at the beginning
and just skip over the middle
to the end.

There's so much that gets lost
in between and perhaps any
comment that you make will
probably make sense.

I'm the same old poet with that
boyish charm, warm heart
and sense of humor
that you were so use to reading
long ago but maybe just a bit
more resolved.

Remember the day I told you
anyone could write or be a poet.?
Well, I was wrong.

Not everyone can write or
be a poet. It takes soul
and heart to be one.
You took my soul and
left my heart somewhere
in the middle.

Paul,
This poem has a unique format, and I can't help but agree with your statement about writing. A tender feel, a kind delivery, and a sad but understanding finish. Great write! Hugs~

Paul, this is so different from the poem that started me writing, in earnest..

But, I do recognize the Haggard's Halls master in your words..

Great write, my friend..

Well, Paul, it may seem funny, but I have a poem, beginning with "I like to read you as a story..."

This is beautifully said Paul
It all matters
Something could get LOST in the translation if not entirely read
or understood!
Another gem to treasure!
I love this!
It speaks to my Heart!

Right on target, Paul -- a perfect bullseye poem. "Not everyone can write or be a poet. It takes soul and heart to be one." Excellent lines! Trying to be a good poet sometimes even breaks the heart and soul, but I truly believe every poet is capable of genius ...
Excellent work, Paul.

Mmmm ... what a twisting spin you put on this one! I really admire what you did here. This one leaves the reader with a very magical "Oops" which is so nicely done. Yes!!!

Oooh, nice write...I love it when I get reviews and I can tell that the person has really read my work and commented about not only the ending or beginning, but can find some hidden something that others did not see in the middle of the write. I agree, most anyone can write poetry, but good poetry comes from the heart and soul of the author. Great write my friend.
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling

What an excellent conclusion to this poem. The part about leaving the heart in the middle, the place that gets overlooked (as you stated at the beginning)is a clever wrap up. Thanks for your review.

Paul,
When I saw the title I thought..hmmmm...that's catchy, but then I started reading it, and realized..it was alot more than that. I think now maybe I should slow down, and enjoy the the gooey center! Grand write Paul!

Dear Paul,
That comment 'anyone can be a poet' Yes I remember that. Maybe I disagree? I am no poet myself just an occasional thought comes out of the blue. Best wishes and regards Joyce

You are so right... not everyone has the heart and soul of a poet. You, my friend, have got IT. Your heart is right smack dab in the middle where ya left it. (smiles)

Wow, so good to read you again. Yeah ...to really read you.

Hugs,
Tami
