Sacred Warriors

Searching for answers and finding new miseries,
we exist for today with little hope of tomorrow.
War torn and tattered without direction,
it is easier for me to live among the lost.

Abruptly people become deaf when
you reach for recognition. I gave mind
and body asking for nothing but truth.
Society turned its head and became muted.

Camouflaged but encasing the colors proudly,
a constitution of morality plagues my existance.
Will this burden that haunts, ever leave
or must I bear it for eternity?

Remembering... Why can't I? This wretched
soul must have once loved and been loved.
Is this hunger and burning within, one
of righteousness or emptiness?

Eventually even life will strangle itself,
and my being shall be long forgotten.
The space once occupied, laid claim
by another and he won't forget.

Destiny relinquished her rights. She tore
my heart and left me naked and drained.
The face of death is not a stranger
and He may become my salvation.

A very powerful write, Paul. Many extremely intriguing lines here. "Eventually even life will strangle itself, and my being shall be long forgotten." - This is unique expression and it evokes sadness because no soldier who gave "mind and body" should be forgotten. Thank you for sharing this piece!

Aching and beautifully penned, Paul. I find this stanza striking in its truth, maybe evem tinged with hope for others futures...

Eventually even life will strangle itself,
and my being shall be long forgotten.
The space once occupied, laid claim
by another and he won't forget.

Well done. :)

This was so wonderful, and beautiful to read! it was excellent, I think my favorite lines were:

Destiny relinquished her rights. She tore
my heart and left me naked and drained.
The face of death is not a stranger
and He may become my salvation.

But I just loved every word!

This poem is very powerful, and often so true of veteran soldiers who have fought for their countries, especially here:
"Abruptly people become deaf when
you reach for recognition."
I hope that there is salvation in this life as well as the next. Perhaps poets can make a difference in the world. Great write...
