Paranoia

This is the way I felt the first time I had to speak before a large crowd. It can be very humbling.

Eyes are fixed, and watch with awe.
Nausea is suppressed by fear.
Hoping to speak with little flaw,
the time, at hand, draws near.

Insomnia doesn't ease the stress,
it adds, much more, than pain.
Comfort allowed is ill repressed,
the spirit meant to strain.

The joy of feeling, may not be taste,
a luxury by name.
Products found are not to waste
but dealt with all the same.

Exposure dictates the paths explored,
those avoided must not fade.
Paranoia shuns the roads restored
and deters to make the grade.

With spirits high, we must stay strong,
the will can see us through.
There is no right, there is no wrong,
my friend it's up to you.

Oh boy, I felt the same way for a minute, then I started skipping subjects, going from one thing to another, stopping mid sentence and going back to finish a thought. I was talking like they were my good friends. I was so embarrassed.

You put it into rhyme so beautifully, (a subject that's hard to write about and make interesting) and it flows like honey! I'm impressed!

I've never had this problem :) (I've always 'spoken' in costume or merely had to say 'thanks'.) So next time don a disguise and your fear won't recognize you :)! (Yeah! Right!)
Couldn't resist. Nice write.

Bravo Paul! Yep, writing is much safer. But, if you do something often enough, the fear goes away. ~Joseph
