The Pigeon

I had no idea what subject to put this one under. Whatever the category it must never become an option.

A transformation takes place.
The prey becomes the stalker.
This cycle must continue to
feed the need. The cost is high.

Desperation intensifies.
Contamination requires stimulation.
The pigeon becomes the tiger,
and society pays the price.

The good life turned bad...
A clean soul blackened by evil...
Bonds of trust broken...
A path of destruction is eminent.

If corruption continues, functions
shut down and become useless.
Vitals malfunction... Veins collapse...
Brain cells turn to mush...
Death is the only option.

Paul,
A creative view of what's happening in the world. This brings to mind school days. Seems like all kids are friends in the early grades. Then they group into cliques, and the bully is born. I've always wondered how the bully is born; from good to bad. With the help of abusive parents maybe? I don't know. I had an abusive parent but I never became the bully. Food for thought. This poem makes me wonder about those who turn bad. Love and Hugs,
Sheila

Social Poetry is here, Paul. I understand every word in your poetry. Society must change at once or fall into the worst disaster.

I like the form, Paul. Four stanzas, four lines except for the last stanza where you use that fifth line as the hook. Very impressive, my friend.

Goodmorning Paul I agree never become an option on the categories this on is dark but it also is so full of wisdom and truths
which you have penned so well.

I abhor pigeons, one of my first jobs as a boy other that cutting grass was cleaning, hell shoveling pigeon crap off the ledges and eves of buildings in downtown Columbus. I guess you could say that I shoveled shit to put myself through school.
