A Stranger Once told Me

A stranger once told me:

Go ahead smile your smile,
Laugh your laugh,
Wear your precious disguise,

But I can see trough that,
Cause your eyes just never lies.

My response was:
I told him off,
I told him he was wrong,
Of course.

And said:
I’m happy as can be,
Then I smiled another smile,
Just for him to see.

He took another look at me,
As he replied so instantly:

The eagle’s wings are tired now,
Without rest, they try to fly,
Longing for the good times,
Up there in the sky,

But restless struggle,
Will never reach that high.

So wear your precious disguise,
But I can see trough that,
Cause your eyes just never lies.

A bit annoyed,
I looked at him,
And said:
That eagle is'nt me!

In this sun,
I’ll dance my dance,
For today gives such a joyful chance,
And I for one,
Enjoy that glance.

Then I laughed another laugh,
Just for him to see,
I was as happy as can be.

He looked at me,
Intensively,
And this is what he said:

Go ahead dear,
Take your chance,
Laugh your laugh
And dance your dance,

But your state of denial
To me, is not a glance.

So wear your precious disguise,
But I can see trough that,
Cause your eyes just never lies.

Eyes are the most expressive emotion gauge we own. Windows of the soul.

As an educator in a high school, I am an expert at putting on an act and a disguise; I do it every day and, come to think of it, not just in school. I can relate to his very well. Thank you for sharing this offering. Love and peace. Regis

this touched me so. I laugh and smile on the outside all the time but on the inside it's a little different. I tell you what though, my ability to laugh and smile on the outside makes my inside fell a lot better. I'll take all the joy I can get. Anyway it's easy to enjoy when everything is good and harder when it's bad. Most of my life has been bad, what help save me is my ability to humor myself. I've learn to laugh at the crap. I always say, this shit couldn't be real, must be a fantasy or dream or something. I quit taking things so serious, I love laughing and fun regardless if it's phony or real. The message still comes through

Your eyes are the lamp of the body;
being that your truth shines brightly
in them is a great thing!
The poem's really intense...I read it 3-4 times
and I really enjoyed the cleverness!
Good Write!

A very insightful piece and a persons eyes
never lie. Do you think? Even a poker face
but some people have the gift of sight.
Excellent write!

A most interesting poem, and perhaps a wise stranger.
