The atrocities of the mundane Threaten our balance. We allow ourselves to fall victim To their torturous weight. You question the ability Of love to sustain us Under the overload Of life’s continuing debate. Fear of losing us Overwhelms my senses, Sends me reeling, falling, slipping Into a catatonic state. You also turn inward Trying to find meaning, Searching for anything To wipe clean the slate. At last we cry together Finding our way back To the beginning -- To the love we create. The joining of flesh, Merely symbolic, Of the true reunion Of a soul and her mate.
