WINE OF THE ASSASSIN song lyrics
by Joel Sattler based on Baudelaire

based on a translation of "Le Vin de l'Assassin"
from FLEURS DU MAL by Charles Baudelaire

my girl has croaked at last I'm free
free to drink until I'm blind
when I came home without a cent
her screaming ripped apart my mind

and as a king I am so glad
the air is pure as sky above
is similar to what we had
when first I fell in love

the horrid thirst that tears at me
to quench it have to now consume
to satisfy it have to drink
enough red wine to float her tomb

I threw her down into a well
and pushed the curbstones on her and
now buried at the bottom I
I will forget her if I can

nothing can release me from
the oath I took in piety
the only reconciliation
is my insobriety

I begged her meet me at the crossroads
in the middle of the night
and like a crazy fool she came
but we we are all crazy, right!

but still she was so pretty pretty
though all played out was still my wife
and I still loved her that is why
I took her out out of this life

no one can understand me now
just a stupid drunken deadbeat
imagining in morbid thought
to make of wine a winding sheet

who thinks he is invulnerable
this scoundrel like machines of steel
who never know the truth of winter
or a love that's really real

with his dark magic and his spells
his hell parade inside his brains
his vials of poison and his tears
his broadcast of his bones and chains

but here at last free and alone
I will be drunk without a sound
so without fear without remorse
I'll sleep here on the ground

lie like a dog here in the gutter
hear iron trolley wheels pass by
loaded up with mud and stone
the rabid wagon lullaby

to maybe crush my guilty head
or maybe cut me right in half
I do not care if God or Devil
has to laugh and laugh and laugh

No last laugh in this morbid tale. A heavy metal sound to it.

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
