the music takes me like the sea
down to my pale and lonely star
under a ceiling made of ether
and then I set my sail too far

I fill my lungs and thrust my chest
just like the canvas see it sail
I surf the backs of giant waves
that the night cannot avail

and in me every passion rings
on a ship that's suffering
the wind the hurricane convulsing

but then so still becomes the air
the water like a mirror there
reflecting only my despair
