THE ERUPTION

main lava Buddhist time
no closer to the night
the hour of the road
all cross flow into light

within the slowing yet
the street was emptied out
the natives ran away
the gods were full of doubt

but still the waves roll on
still the waves roll on

evacuate the island
or else we all are dead
and when the sea exploded
the sky turned bloody red

o yes we heard the warnings
o yes we could have saved
our lives as they were borning
instead of early graves

but still the waves roll on
still the waves roll on

and deep beneath the tide
a thousand temples lie
from the quake of yesterday
to eons gone away

and tomorrow there will be
new islands in the sea
and continents will sink
mankind is on the brink

and still waves roll on
still the waves roll on
