Graduation day is coming and I find myself perplexed.
Her tiny hand is slipping from mine, and I don't know what happens next.
Did I do all I could have?
Did I do all I should?
Did I say too much, too little?
Did it do any good?
Whose voice did I use, Lord, and which voice did she hear?
When temptation comes, will she remember that You are always near?
How can she stand to go on without me?
I've always been her guide.
Can I simply hand her over, when I cannot see the ride?
Is she standing on the brink of a roller-coaster life,
filled with precarious heights?
Will the deep plunges thrill her, or be filled with stress and strife?
The answers to these questions cannot be penned on this page.
The last will bear evidence of the first; it's been the same from age to age.
Train up a child in the way he shoudl go--and when he is old he will not depart from it."
And so my training ends, but for occasional advice.
Your conscience now will guide you,
the One Who paid the price.
The price was high; but you were worth it.
In His Word, He tells us so.
Now go and gro--be Christlike.
I release you to His care.
But should life no go just exactly as you planned--
and you need two arms to hold you--
Remember, I'll be here.
I'm proud of you! Mom 5/18/04
