Heaven and Hell

My idea of Heaven:

Saskatchewan in a good year
When the hills are green
and the yellow heads
Sing in the slough

Hell?

Saskatchewan in a dry year,
When the wind scores the land
And the hills don’t
green up in the spring....

=====================================

The Great Plains, the Prairies, cover the central part of N. America from N. Mexico to S. Canada. I suspect that it is the same all though out. I lived in Saskatchewan for six years -- I still wander there in my mind . . .

River of Memories: An Appalachian Boyhood by David Thompson

For a time, I perched myself on a flat rock, comparing my life with the Guyandotte River. Just as its tributaries replenish it daily, changing it in some small—sometimes great—degree, so have the day-to-day occurrences of life changed me. Like the ri
