a valentine's day i'd rather forget

i had two things to do that evening: make a valentine call, and check my mail---i made the call first: the "Dear John" was in my box . . .

the poem is a tanka




cold wind blowing through
the stubble field drifting snow
brings memories of
the last time that we spoke snow
drifting from the telephone
