written in 1974, this is a bit harsh. in defence of the town that occassioned this poem: i've been in smaller and worse since.
-30-
Small town rotting
In the small town sun.
Wasted lives blowing
Down the Street
Like discarded newspapers.
Yesterday̓s news,
Yesterday̓s bargains,
Blown by a wind
They do not know.
Forsaken unwanted rubbish
Left lying around
Until the Collector,
In his own good time,
comes to take them
To the dump.
I also grew up in a small town.. could not wait to GET OUT.. Now that I am older I somehow miss it.. Well done my friend.

Cut them some slack my man. I grew up in a town like that, Washington Court House, Ohio.
The nicest people in the world if you were their age, problem was, I wasn't ever going to be that old. So I thought.
Join me as we travel together on the road called "Aging." I will be sharing my personal experiences with you and offer ideas on how we can better navigate the complex byways of our older years. Grief, healing, generations, ancestors, and more.
