After 14 years on the shores of James Bay
i like winter --real winter

Winter
is best
when
the snow crunches
underfoot
and the smoke
stands straight up
in the clear,
starried sky

I can imagine this. Then I use my sun imagination to melt it away :-) Great capture of the true cold winter. I lived in Northern Alberta.

Great answer, John!
"Stands straight up in the clear,
starried sky"

But what happens when the smoke curls downward,
And all gets in both your eyes?
And when the snowdrifts turn to ice, letting
no one pass?
Or worse yet, when you slip and fall, and bruise
a little.....(lass????).
