Some more Niagara River Lore

Down the mighty Niagara
deep in the darkling gorge
live a little feathered critter
cousin of the great auk…

In the rock crevices above
the talus slopes they nest’
black and white burgers
of the great Niagara Gorge.

Deep in the whirlpool dive they
seeking the Ontario turbot their
preferred prey. Prey in turn are
they to the mighty Masgonee

monster pike of the river.
Unknown to most these birds
dwell only there—denizens
of the great Niagara
