responding to loss is a matter of finding
a new balance in your life -- learning a new worldscape
this comes, in part, from my experiences surrounding the death of my mother last October
finding my balance
through a season of loss
learning to walk and to run
where is the point
‘tween finding and losing
‘tween doing and feeling
‘tween action and thought
seeking my balance
in the wreckage of living
learning to grieve and to cry
borne down by sorrow
by folly and anger
deploring that which
has gone
finding my balance
on the road to healing
learning to crash and to soar
trudging forward poised
‘twix stumbling and rising
‘twix being and growing
‘twix fleeing and standing
finding my balance
in a season of growing
learning to gently go on
trusting my heart
for the answers to living
balanced and calm
in this new world
i'm with katy, "the crashing and soaring" really drives this piece.

"...learning to crash and to soar..." These words, John, gave me pause. My sister died in Nov. and this phrasing of yours brought a perspective I have been searching for... it filled a space I didn't realize was still left gaping, only that I had an emptiness I thought couldn't be addressed... I'm grateful to have read this... your use of "twixt" is perfect. I do wish you recovery... it truly does come a day at a time, doesn't it? I was also moved by the your expression of 'learning... to trust my heart'.. I just needed you to know that you crossed my path at a very important time and I have responded entirely. Take good care, John. Thank you. katy xox.
