Happy Birthday To me Too

~~~*~~~
Today I Reach the same age
As my father
When He passed away
At 61
I saw a bicycle
On my driway
Iridescent metallic green
Nothing like I've ever seen
Just there taunting me
Ride me if you dare
The idiot machismo within
Volumteer me, for a spin
Knowing
Balance I lagged
I mounted the bike
Like a cowboy on a bronc
Not wanting all to see
I was, in no hurry
When none were looking
I pedalled a few feet away
Found myself facing up I laid
Now on my knee
Nursing I am, a strawberry.
Ouchhhhhhhh!! #&%$#*&^%$#.!!~
Happy belated birthday, William, and keep on writing! Wonderful poem! Only 6l? Naaah, you're NOT old!! (I will be 45 in June, on the 26th! I will officially become a middle-ager then! Then is SENIOR! YIKES!! I am NOT ready to be a middle ager, let alone, a SENIOR!!)
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D
I will be there in less than two years and I now prefer to take after my father's father who lived until he was 97 instead of 57.
That's the trouble with life. Just when we have time to do things we always wanted to do, you discover you can't do them. I decided that I would run, and I did it without getting out of breath, but I could hardly walk the following week. Now I know one can't run with bad knees. Liked your poem. I'm sure we'll find other fun things to do after we have healed. Wanting to have fun doesn't make us us stubborn old fools.
I happen to like stubborn old fools, William, since I am one myself!
Happy Happy Birthday to you, and wishing you many, many more.
William, this poem shows you are still willing to take a chance; as a forward looking man willing to sacrifice his body in spite of the pain of achievment. But it gets a little harder. Happy Birthday William. Bill
