My mind is searching
For words to write
Like an inmate
Of time
On a hunger strike
He looks out for his welfare
As his prison rights
I search for the words
I've been blind to
My attempts, to pry them
From within the shadows
As they slink
Weaving throughout
The crevasses of the night
On the way, to their
Uncertain tomorrow
I need verses
Some time
Sonnets, songs to sing
Allow me to write, some lines
Rhythms and rhymes
Whatever you can spare
Oh! by the way
Brother
Can you, spare me a dime?
Many will relate to this including me, William. Thank you for this offering. Love and peace to you. Regis
