I woke
Deep in the darkness, of a night
Drenched in sweat
Startled from a nightmare.

I tried to suckle
The sweetness, from the air
Deep into my lungs
My breath was pilfered
By demons lurking
In the cob web shadows
Of my mind.

Renewed activity
Have awaken
I feel stirring
Deep in the cravesses
Where unwanted memories
Are wedged
In the corridors, of my thoughts.

I envision myself
Running fast
Through distant jungles
My lungs burning
Chased
Not by enemy
Bombarment.

But by
Huge red, demonic clouds
Delivered by U.S air mail
our own
Friendly fires, so they say.

I pray to my God
On the run
To spare, my miserable life
I wish, not to die
Fried.

Dreams of quinine, taste in my throat
fevers raging deep
In my mind
As I pray the Lord
To waken me, from this dream.

I see myself
Outside, my id
Within my head
I desire, not to be
Nor strapped
In a white jacket
On A Vet's Hospital bed.

I must open my eyes
Close my mind
To the horrors
Of past times.
