Another Storm ( Frances )

Empty lot
Muddy grounds
Grass blades wavering
Like Maggots feasting
Trees yielding, bending
Not breaking.

Zyphyrs blowing
At speeds
Like a race car's 500
Morning skies gray
Birds hiding silent
Without a song
A joy robbed, from my ears.

Lights went out
No more power
For an unknown
Length of time
Rain forcing it's way
Towards earth.

I see faces
on the trees bending
Within the leaves, branches
Lines and contours.

A jester laughing
Having fun
Riding a tree like a cowboy
On a bronc.

I with no where to go
Must stay to ride
Out this storm
In the comfort, of our home.

Oh geez, isn't this storm a kicker? We were without power all afternoon...6.5 hours. However I'm not complaining. Many homes on our street are still dark. Let's all agree in prayer that Ivan turns and we don't have to go through this again next weekend. God bless us everyone! I don't know about you William, but I'm ready for a new subject to write about. So far I've written two poems and an article about hurricanes! Ha ha! This is a great write. I'm surprised you can create on a weather day like this. Stay safe. Michelle

After this storm, be smart, buy a generator, Bill. No matter where I have lived, no matter the frequency of storms or anything destructive, I have owned a generator...ya never know!? Hope your staying safe and well, don't float away...Peaceful Weather I do predict, eventually, Ed & Rufuz
