Restlessly, I woke
In the middle of the night
One Day
Moonbeam shinning
Filtering through an open window
Blessing the darkness within
Nutralizing the shadows
That lingered without sin.
It was a beautiful night
Warm, silent, still
All around
Within I can sense a man
Sitting on a chair, next to my bed.
Even though
I am unable to see him
I could tell he was gentle
Big, no hair, bold that is
White beard, mustache
Just sitting there
Staring at me, going nowhere.
Haven't seen, his lips move
Yet I knew, he was talking to me
Or was he thinking out loud?
Said he remembered this night.
Sixty-two years ago
I had a dream, he said
Saw myself old, in a dark room
Sitting on a chair.
Didn't want to make any noise
Near the crib, I sat
Listening to my first born
Sleeping restlessly.
The fullmoon's, silvery beams
Shone through, the window blinds
Pilfering the glum
from within the room.
I gently took a peek
At the pride of my life
Unfolding
The blanket to see
An aging gentle of a man
Restlessly, trying to sleep.
You have outdone yourself in this poem. Marvelously-written and very creative indeed! It has so captured my attention from beginning to end...and I really like the way this has ended!
