I want to be able
To embrace her once again
Without her gentle, push aways
Dismissing me, staring at me
As her humorless laughter
Echoed through my mind
Leaving me there alone
In the coldness
Of a dark empty room
Where shadows solicit, friendship.

Once Again
I want to be able, to play
In the snow, build a snowman
Feel the bite, of old man winter
Nibbling
At the tip of my ears
I want to feel really alive.

Once again
I would love to run
My daily five miles
Along South Beach, back home
Letting it rip
At the last quarter mile
Then walk until, I am breathing
Normal again.

Once again
I would like to do this "thing"
That seems like it took
Just a few minutes, Yet a life time
All over again
When My heart stops
Silent.

William,

Very thought-provoking write! As we age, we remember the simple things in life that brought so much joy that aren't so simple anymore! The memories can bring inner strength and renew the joy in our lives as we find new hobbies to occupy our time. Keep living life to the fullest! Blessings to you.

Love this one and the reflective yearns for life slipping. This is excellent.

This gives me an idea of what my own thoughts may be in 20 years. I read somewhere that keeping one's mind stimulated with things that are enjoyed inspires longevity, slows down time. I should get started on that now, then. LOL Wonderful write. Made me ponder. Gave me some insight. :)

You can do all that, just have to do so with a bit of prudence...maybe that last 1/4 miles might not be such a good idea, but the rest is doable...Ed

"Where shadows solicit, friendship." What a wonderful line. This is haunting and sad. But as Eileen said, Spring will arrive soon.

My karate teacher is over 70 years young, he out runs the lot of us.

You penn is youthful. Life is for living, and reflecting on the beauty, of just the wind on your face, talking to future or old friends.

Keep on keeping on William..
