A trip back from paradise
I began
My road trip back north
To the misery, of snow and ice.

Believe me, if I didn't need to go
Here I would not leave
Lollygagging
Driving in beautiful weather
Sun playing hide and seek
without being too discreet.

I felt a lonely feeling
from left field
Back on the road somewhere
Realizing or dreaming.

I just drifted across a border town
Down savannah way
Without saying, a how you do
To a pal, Suzy Cue.

Wondering if she was still
Around
The mere thought
Brought a smile
Wondering if Suzy Cue
Was thinking of me
or seen me, in her dream
Oh! Was that supposed to be
Irene?

I can confess to that
I have yet to see,
Irene
Traveling in any of my dreams

I hope that you did have fun and I just did a freelance thing about a bus trip for Where Do We Get Off and how well I remember those road trips. But if everyone drove like my mother-in-law did none of us would be here or rathere the survivors would be babbling. Nice write.

Our mind, as well as our body, truly does travel around quite a bit on road trips - especially when we see familiar things that remind us of someone or something from our past.

No, dont go, stay in your hammock and drink those beers and forget the north till it warms up...unless someone up here might make it "hot" for you if you were to "come" up here...in that case drive like the wind but be safe...Ed

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
