Who Is Riding That Cloud

Some days
I'll sit and stares
At Clouds
That are going nowhere.

I find myself reaching
With my arms stretched
Like A Mighty Oak's Branches
reaching, towards heaven.

I wish to touch a cloud
To see if an angel
Resides there
But I find an empty cloud
That's deadheading elsewhere.

Aging and the pain of life
Seem to hold me down
Like an anchor
For the ship of fools.
traveling with uncertainty
all around.

My melancholy thoughts
And I
Will part our ways
Though time is closing
In on me.

I seek a review
Of my happier days
Allowing my pal
Melancholy
To continue downing others
Along it's way.

Grab one of those clouds William, you might find the trip worthwhile, even though it's going nowhere. I just came back from a 1000 mile trip of driving. First time ever, I went to get out of my car after about 300 miles of driving and my legs wouldn't hold me. I almost fell to the ground. New one for me. I'm doing better now though. G

Contemplative states are good for the soul. Self-examination helps us grow, and if we don't have a sense of sadness about our past, then we're probably looking at it through rose-colored glasses for we've all done something that we could have done better. An honest write, William. States of melancholy are only sickness when they last too long, prevent us from moving forward. ~~Nordette

Humans= the fools; planet earth = our ship. too bad we still don't get it. Love this write, William; suits my mood just fine. Melancholia is a much maligned state of being... Well done.

We all, if we live long enough, come down with sever cases of melancholy thoughts from time to time. Looking back on those carefree days that seem to elude us in these later years. Nostalgia! Ah, yes.

Dontcha' just hate those damn clouds that are basically freeloading off the wind, floating along without so much as a thank you to old Mom Nature and not allowing any angels to share the ride...? Ed
