"But She Wrote"

I had A thought today
Of something or another
Can't really remember
Who, what, when, where nor why
Was just a thought
That was passing by
I didn't write it down.

I could remember
Incidents that occured
Thirty, forty years ago.

What I had for breakfast
Is a memory
Not filed in my mind
I didn't write it down
It was just a thought
Lost in time.

What am I doing here?
In this room
Was there a purpose
I entered here?

Who is that person?
Staring at me from within
That window (mirror).

I flipped open the window
She disappeared
I see just an assortment
Of different color bottles
And small boxes.

The Woman!
She is no longer there
So I closed the window
Like Magic, she reappeared.

She doesn't respond
She must be trapped
Don't worry sweetie
If you don't see me
I'll leave you some food
As long as you're there
I'll feed you.

Must leave now
Don't know
What I came here for
I forgot to write down.

************ NOTE ***********
Dedicated: to my Mother
Nicolasa Arroyo Bonilla

For years she suffered moments like these
She loved writing, Wrote every spared moment
Of her hard life.

Now with tearful eyes, Those moments haunt me
I've been unable ro read
her most valued thoughts
That disappeared within family circles and squabbles,
From them no intrest was placed
on what she treasured most
"Her Memories"

William,
My Mother wrote also, I've read them over and over since her death in 2001, the next year, I took some of them and made self-made poetry books using only her writes and different photos, to bring them alive. It was an experience I'll always cherish. I gave them to the rest of the family members for Christmas presents. Now we all have a piece of Mom's thoughts, right at our fingertips.
William, There's greatness in those pages, and peace and understanding as well.
I hope you able to move forward, and share your Mother's memories, just as she intended for you to do when she wrote them.
Thank You for sharing this.

I've given my mother a mini recorder to speak about her memories of being evacuated in ww2, raising us nine kids etc. I also do the same as Lori.

I sure hope you find the lost diaries William...

William this is painful because I have a similar situation. My mother kept journals too, and they were chock full of wonderful events etc. but some were lost in a fire, and others just went missing from one place to another. It is sad.Excellent write!

That's why I carry a voice-activated recorder. Good one, William.

She used to buy the black composition books by the dozen
in the evening she would sit and write
with such a lovely handwriting at that
As a child I never thought of reading her books
now to me they are lost treasures, priceless heirlooms
would like to read, just one before iam laid to rest
